A Brand New Indoor Professional Soccer Team Launches To Grow The Sport Amongst Urban Youth & Inspire Nonviolent Lifestyles
Milwaukee, WI - Today, the United Group, the owners of a brand new professional indoor soccer franchise, announces that it will be playing its first home game at Uihlein Soccer Park (7202 W. Good Hope) on March 4, 2023. The team will be replacing the Brew City Legends in Major League Indoor soccer. (MLISpro.com)
"We are excited to welcome the United group to the league, and we would like to thank Denzel Pettrigrew and the outgoing ownership for bringing MLIS indoor soccer to Milwaukee," said MLIS Commissioner Dominic Turcotte. "We are anticipating a seamless transition."
Brew City United will move to Uihlein Soccer Park for their remaining five home games and some dates will have to be changed to accommodate the move.
The Brew City United FC ownership group is composed of seasoned, community-focused sports personalities, including former players, soccer executives, and grassroots supporters. The team will continue to be coached by Lito Zabala, who also acts as one of the organization's directors, and much of the roster will remain intact.
Director of Strategy Nate Thompkins explained the rebrand. "We have decided to start a new business to strengthen the franchise, improve the brand, help the previous owner, and preserve the soccer history in our community," Thompkins said.
"Milwaukee is such an important urban soccer market," said the club's Chairperson, Dr. Robert Baker. "That's why we are so excited to be working with Coach Zabala and MLIS to make sure that the next generation is getting a chance to showcase their game on a bigger stage."
